He has toured extensively, performing almost literally everywhere. His new album of original music, Delaware Bay, is a 17-song double album featuring full band accompaniment, including classical violin on 6 songs. The album has received considerable praise from both local music fans and critics and some of his songs have been heard on the radio, locally and nationally and internationally. A few of the songs have been covered by other artists as well. Mike has performed with a number of bands over the years but has been mostly a solo performer for the last 15 or so years. His songs are often described as “hauntingly beautiful and accessible chronicles of meeting life’s challenges head on, of self-discovery, of love lost, found and lost again.” His shows are surprising and memorable. Mike is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and vocalist and has a reputation as a vivid and entertaining storyteller. McDevitt’s songs tell real stories about real people. And he has “been there” himself. “I realized early on that I had an ability to capture something deeply personal and share it with others. That’s what songwriting and singing are all about for me.”
