Jillian Markowitz (Host)
Jillian Markowitz is a comedian and singer based in Philadelphia, PA. After studying at Second City in Chicago, Jillian went on to fail out of clown school, in what was and will likely continue to be her life’s greatest metaphor. In the midst of the fallout from this failure, Jillian moved back to Philadelphia, where she co-founded and hosted the weekly U UP? Comedy Showcase and Open Mic at Fergie’s Pub for two years. She regularly hosts and co-produces several shows in Philadelphia, including: Sofar Sounds Comedy, BalletX Young Xers Night at the Wilma Theatre, and Comedy at the Cannery at the Dock Street Brewery. Jillian has also hosted Make Up or Break Up at Good Good Comedy Theatre, has done several feature spots at Punch Line Philly, and was selected to perform in the Ladybug Festival’s No-bro Comedy Show in Delaware. Jillian often integrates musical comedy into her stand-up, using either ukulele or piano. She also performs music in the comedy duo Machiz & Markowitz, and is a member of Open Hearts On Tour, a company devoted to bringing live music and performance art to retirement communities. Jillian has done stand up all over the east coast, Chicago, and Florida, and has accidentally guest-hosted open mics in four states.
