Browntown Funk Dance Party
Formed in 2001 by a random collection of musicians in the Philly and Lehigh Valley area, Browntown began as a 9-piece instrumental horn band. Over the next 10 years, the band added a singer and toured the east coast playing thousands of cover and original funk shows. Members came and went, but the core group and mentality always stayed the same. In 2011, due to the constant struggle to keep together a band of highly in-demand musicians, the current members of the group made the difficult decision to breakup. In the interim, everyone in the band continued to play music, and on occasion, when the funk-gods allow it, the band gets back to together for a few shows. It is at these rare performances that fans of the band can come together and live the powerful experience that is Browntown: a little bit of hip-hop, a little bit of rock, and a whole lot of funk.
