The Matt Galletti Band
Matt Galletti is a drummer who has been able to utilize his talent in various genres of music, both as a sideman and now as a leader of his own band. In addition to his playing experience, Matt has also played an active role in the Delaware and Chester County area as a private percussion teacher for over 20 years, both from his house and at the Mattock School of Music.
Born in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Matt’s musical training began with his father, who is also a drummer. It was not long after picking up the sticks that Matt was playing along to records Maynard Ferguson, Blood Sweat & Tears, The Beatles and many other great bands. Upper Darby has a rich history as a music program, so Matt was very fortunate to study under some great teachers who he calls friends to this day. Brad Schoener, Tim Blessington, Jason Majerczak, Jeremy Schilling, Scott Litzenberg and JT Whitely were all instructors and teachers that showed Matt how to be a musician, and not just a drummer.
Upon completion of high school, Matt spent a year at the University of North Texas, where he had the chance to study with Mark Ford, Nathan Ratliff, Ed Soph and many other guest clinicians, like Matt Chamberlain and Joey Baron. Matt eventually transferred to Temple University, where he studied with Erik Johnson, Ben Schacter, Dan Monaghan, Terrell Stafford, Greg Kettinger, and countless others. After Graduating in 2005, Matt began establishing himself as a drummer, playing in various groups throughout the Philadelphia area.
While Matt has played with singer/songwriters, jazz groups, over 100 musical productions, R&B bands, wedding bands, and continues to branch out and play with as many groups as he can, it was just recently that Matt took the advice of his teacher and mentor, Michael Carvin, to start his own band. In April 2019, Matt released his debut EP “It’s Happening”, featuring Elliot Bild, Dave Mattock, and Tyrone Fredericks Jr. The album is available for purchase and streaming on all of your favorite music sites.
