THE MELTON BROTHERS – Past, Present, Future – A Retrospective Concert
with special guests Alfie Moss, Gerald Chavis, Bob Beach, Fred Berman, and Michael Melton
Dennis and Dale Melton have been serious about making music since 1964 when The Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. Starting out as The Prodigals, they were an integral part of a number of popular area bands including August and the Watson Brothers before emerging as The Melton Brothers Band in the 1970’s. Living in the City, their 1979 album featuring local jazz singer, Alfie Moss has become a collector’s item for vinyl fans all over the world. In addition to performing with a full band, The Melton Brothers perform as a duo and pursue separate music projects. Dale plays keys as part of the Lili Añel Band and Dennis formed Crossroads with son Michael and the late singer-songwriter Billy Penn Burger.
Appearing with The Melton Brothers for this retrospective are vocalist Alfie Moss and trumpeter Gerald Chavis, considered two of Delaware’s renowned jazz artists. Also appearing is singer-songwriter Michael Melton of Vox Cadre. Philadelphia favorites Fred Berman, who played and toured as Amos Lee’s drummer and Bob Beach, known for his masterful harmonica and percussion flute round out the roster of what promises to be an unforgettable evening of great music.
